Description
* We have received reports that product tanker HAFNIA NILE (IMO: 9766217) was in a collision with crude oil tanker CERES I (IMO: 9229439) approximately 34 nautical miles northeast of Pedra Branca, Singapore, on 19 July 2024. Consequently, both vessels experienced a fire on board.
* Vessels in the vicinity of the casualty are assisting with the search and rescue operations in conjunction with an Air Force Helicopter. Reportedly all the crew on board the HAFNIA NILE have been rescued, whilst 26 of the 40 crew on board the CERES I have stayed to conduct fire-fighting operations.
* Reports suggest the HAFNIA NILE was carrying 300,000 barrels of naphtha, whilst it is still unclear what cargo the CERES I was carrying.
* It is likely that General Average/Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
