Description
* We have received reports that containership SARA STAR (IMO: 9129471) experienced an engine failure in a position approximately 77 nautical miles east of Marsaxlokk, Malta on 22 July 2024.
* It is reported that the crew were unable to effect repairs to the engine and consequently the vessel was taken under tow by tug towards Astakos port, Greece for inspection and, possibly, repairs.
* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
