Description
* We have received reports that the vehicle carrier Malaysia Star (IMO: 9032331) experienced a fire near its fuel tank, approximately 9 nautical miles west of Tanjung Laboh, Malaysia, on 02 December 2024.
* Thick smoke was observed billowing from the vessel, with the fire dangerously close to the fuel tanks. All crew members have been safely evacuated from the vessel.
* It is understood that the owners have declared GA, and there is a possibility of loss or damage to the vehicles onboard.
* We have retained surveyors to assess the damage, investigate the cause of the fire with the assistance of a Forensic Expert, and act on behalf of certain cargo interests onboard the vessel.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any of the vehicle stowed on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
