Description
* We have received reports that Ro/Ro container carrier GRANDE CONGO (IMO:9437921) experienced a shift of cargo and a fire in vehicle deck No.3 whilst in a position approximately 1,000 nautical miles east of Bermuda on 17 February 2025.
* It is reported that the fire was extinguished by the crew using water and the vessel’s CO2 fire-fighting system.
* The vessel later completed its voyage to Virginia, arriving there on 24 February 2025 and we understand that efforts are currently being made to salvage any damaged cargo stowed on board the vessel.
* It is possible that General Average and Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
