Description
* We have received reports that bulk carrier MAGIC SEAS (IMO: 9736169) came under a co-ordinated attack, likely launched by Houthi rebels, in a position approximately 51 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen, on 6 July 2025.
* It is reported that the vessel initially came under attack by eight small boats from which gunshots were fired and rocket-propelled grenades were launched. The vessel later came under attack from four Unmanned Surface Vessels, two of which are reported to have struck the port side of the vessel.
* Reports indicate that the vessel experienced a fire and sustained significant structural damage and an ingress of water as a consequence of the latter attacks.
* We understand that the crew were forced to abandon the vessel as a consequence of the water ingress and were later safely rescued by a nearby commercial vessel.
* It is possible that General Average, Salvage and Recovery issues will arise as a result of this incident.
